Luc est à Linz pour présenter son installation « The Visitor: Living by Numbers », (2001), dans le cadre du Festival Ars Electronica. Cette prise de vue panoscopique montre une installation sonore des artistes Atau Tanaka et Edwin van der Heide. La ligne courbe montre une corde tendue qui, lorsqu’on la fait vibrer, transforme la salle en caisse de résonnance.

This panoscopic shot shows a sound installation by the artists Atau Tanaka and Edwin van der Heide. The curved line shows a taut string which, when vibrated, transforms the room into a sound box.

Conçu par l'artiste à la fin des années 1990, le Panoscope est un dispositif de projection panoramique monocanale et une méthode de prise de vue adaptée à sa géométrie. La série photographique Journal panoscopique de Luc Courchesne, commencée en 2000, présente des anamorphoses de l’espace environnant tel que vu par le système optique qu’il utilise. Les œuvres font appel à une forme d'interactivité, les spectateurs étant invités à faire tourner le disque sur lui-même pour privilégier l’un ou l’autre des multiples points-de-vue qu’offre cette représentation photographique de l’horizon dans son entièreté.

Designed by the artist in the late 1990s, the Panoscope is a single channel panoramic projection apparatus and a picture taking method adapted to its geometry. Luc Courchesne’s photographic series Journal panoscopique, begun in 2000, presents anamorphic representations of the surrounding space as seen by the optical system he uses. The works call for a form of interactivity, with viewers encouraged to rotate the disc on itself to select one of the multiple views offered by this photographic representation of the entire horizon.
