- Stephane Alexis

"The flat iron came into existence in 1872 at the hands of Erica Feldman, who was inspired by Parisian inventor Marcel Grateau who created the heating rod with teeth around the same time. Her methods were to heat iron rods with a flame before pressing the hair until the desired look was achieved. Now, this style is achieved with high-tech titanium and ceramic irons." - Stephane Alexis
