The Pierre-François Ouellette art contemporain gallery is pleased to present the solo exhibition entitled Circuits tubulaires by Marie-Josée Laframboise from October 11 to November 15. The exhibition will include an in-situ installation and a new suite of drawings. The artist will be present at the gallery on Saturday October 11.
"Tubular Circuits are coming out from the wall. Networks of coloured, transparents thin tubes sprout from the vertical surface, leaving the visitor to believe that they continue onto the other side. Allowing them to open up the visitor's imagination. The point of departure for my sculpture or in situ project is, above all else, the manipulation and diversion of materials. The location becomes a target to aim for, to invade, or to occupy with privileged matter. Provoking a contrast, or creating osmosis, between the chosen space and the material form. The accumulation of texture and tension are constants in the development of a piece. Each project must adapt to a new environment, a fact that motivates me to interfere with a territory to highlight or to mark the landscape. There is an invariable coexistence between the game and the trap in my work. The visitor who is fascinated with the playfulness of the material, being integrated into a specific situation, becomes entangled in it. Curiosity provokes the desire to play with, to touch, or to penetrate inside the proposition. Those who animate the work are the ones who pass through it. The terms network, route, web, and mesh are all reoccurring notions in a project's construction. Drawing is a constant engine of exploration, and of thinking aloud. It is a quick and spontaneous need. This medium takes its form from previous installations, and from those still to come. It is inspired from the juxtaposition of different sites. A sketch is a kind of fictional extrapolation of reality. Aspects within the drawing are linked together. They form an interrelation in the image's composition. The notion of mesh is also integrated into my drawing practice." - Marie-Josée Laframboise
