[Le français s'en vient] August Klintberg's Meet me in the woods revisited in a sweatshirt edition.
In 2010, Meet me in the woods was commissioned by The Alberta Foundation for the Arts and Banff Centre to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Centre. Reminiscent of the sign at the entrance to the Walter Phillips Gallery, Meet me in the woods is installed adjacent to the WPG, and in the middle of the nearby woods is a sign that reads "meet me in the town." Ten years later, the artist chooses to circulate this message by creating sweatshirts, thus spreading Meet me in the woods beyond the fixed location through all those who will proudly wear it. Today, the work takes on a whole new dimension as it is transposed into everyday life, its message becoming, according to the artist, much stronger. The sweater is available in three versions: an ongoing unlimited edition; an edition of 100 with hand-stitched labels; and a special collaboration with Megan Kirk in a unique edition of 10.
